Wikiout is a Free worldwide LGBT encyclopedia. This project based on wiki technology “to create a free and up-to-date content for the LGBT community. Launched in August 18, 2009 with the intention to support the gay culture by divulging information relevant to our community.

Description

Using wiki technology, Wikiout allows users around the world to collaborate with the LGBT community. Articles can cover any LGBT related information such as: queer friendly destinations, dangerous destinations, help with lgbt issues (coming out, identity, single parent, transexuality, aids), resources to find help when needed, gay villages world wide. Also, Wikiout has as goal the education of heterosexuals regards our community.

Technology

Wikiout uses the open source Mediawiki software for wiki websites, which is the same software used by Wikipedia. Wikiout is not part of the Wikimedia project. It runs and operates under its own servers and entity.

History

Wikiout started on August 18, 2009 inspired by the need of a common, free and public place where any individuals can contribute and help the LGBT community as well as others trying to find gay related information. All content in the Wikiout is free and public and any contribution to this website needs to be under this principal. Any Article can be copied and reprinted. There is not restriction.
