Chennai, formerly known as Madras, is the capital of the southern state of Tamil Nadu in India, and is the country's fourth-largest city. There's nothing much to see from a traditional tourists's point of view, but it has very interesting temples.
Homosexual sex is illegal in India. Laws have been used recently to oppress gay men. Recently, some organized gay movement has begun to form in India to resist these laws. Gay establishment exists in India, but they are very hard to be found and mostly are concentrated in bigger cities such as Bombay and Delhi. Chennai hasn’t any public gay club, but there are few places considered “gls” where you will be able to find guys cruising. Most of the man in Chennai is very effeminate, they all touch each other, sometimes hold their hands, so any touching sign is not a meaning of a gay contact. Always be careful when flirting someone there, police is around sometimes to catch gays. People organize private LGBT parties, so they can have more freedom on finding someone who is gay without the fear for cops. You’ll need to know someone in the party to be able to join in.
[edit] Cruise
Some people suggest “Marina Beach” as the best place for cruising – near to Anna swimming pool after 7pm. Theatres like Gaiety (Near Anna Statue, Mount Road) and Motcham Theatre (Purasaiwakkam) and Kalaivanar Arangam, in Wallajah Road, Triplicane, is also considered as a pickup spot. Some people also suggest the Electric Train, but I wouldn’t go there if I were you. Spencers Plaza 3rd phase near the Sub-way outlet(US food joint) seems to be a good spot for cruising.
